I composed Lover Madrigal № 1 as a present for a friend. I wrote both the Hebrew text and the music in Jerusalem and completed the work in May of 2002. I do not remember the exact circumstances surrounding the composition of Lover Madrigal № 2. I think it was my fondness for Lover Madrigal № 1 that encouraged me to write another piece in the same vein exactly one year later, in May of 2003. As with Lover Madrigal № 1, I wrote both the Hebrew text and the music in Jerusalem.
